A Slovak woman, who was being held captive by followers of Ram Bahadur Bamjan, nicknamed Buddha Boy, has been freed.


The 35-year-old woman, identified only as Marichi, was freed last night at around nine after mediapersons, police and locals raised questions about her abrupt disappearance about three months ago. Whereabouts of another woman from Sindhupalchowk, identified as Mata (nun),

who is also being held captive by Bamjan’s followers, is still unknown.


The two women were taken hostage by the followers of Bamjan, who have formed Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh to what they say protect ‘Buddha Boy’, on charges of distracting the man in meditation in the Halkhoriya jungle.


Inspector KP Sharma of Area Police Office, Simara, who met Marichi at Lama Hotel this morning, told mediapersons that the Slovak woman looked tense. “She said she was kept in a tank in a ditch in Halkhoriya,” said Sharma.


Krishna Lama, who owns Lama Hotel, said a man identifying himself as Darshan Limbu from Bodhi Shrawan Dharma Sangh had left her in the hotel. “He appeared out of the blue on a motorbike last night, dropped her and left,” said Lama. Marichi came to Nepal two years ago to pay visit to Bamjan, who has been meditating since 2005, but had gone missing since December 28.


A scared Marichi with a broken arm refused to talk to reporters and urged them not to photograph her. “I won’t say a thing; Sangh and Bamjan have forced me into the promise that I won’t open my mouth,” said Marichi who seems to have received injuries on her head as well.


She was too moved to speak when people close to her met her this morning. “She wept herself into a state of exhaustion as she said she was tortured,” said a local from Simara. “She said she felt like she was at death’s door.”


Marichi could not tell about the other missing woman. “They kept me in ignorance about the nun. She was kept captive somewhere else, not with me,” a local quoted her.


Bara SP Dan Singh Bohara said he had also interrogated Marichi and that investigation was under way.


Police later handed over Marichi to Birgunj-based Immigration Office as her one-year visa for Nepal has expired.


Though her visa had expired, the Slovak woman was meditating in the Halkhoriya jungle and during one of those days she was taken hostage by Bamjan’s followers accusing her ‘of being a witch’.

KATHMANDU: A Slovak woman, who was freed by the followers of Ram Bahadur Bamjan after keeping her hostage for about three months on Sunday night, was brought to Kathmandu on Monday. According to an official at the Department of Immigration, Marichi has been taken into custody as she has overstayed her visa. DoI officials did not allow media to talk to Marichi. However, according to Chegu Lama , a resident of Simara, who is assisting Marichi , she is in a state of distress and does not speak to anyone. Interestingly, Lama said she does not speak anything against Bamjan. In Simara, Marichi had said she wanted to return to Slovakia as soon as possible. She had also requested people close to her to help manage Rs 50,000 for her.

Well, Here is what i heard about buddha child..

In 2009, I went to shoot documentary of largest animal sacrifice festival , The Gadhimai Mela (Gadhimai Mela 2069  Youtube)  .I also read in newspaper that Ram Bahadur Bomjan was going to stop this killings with his special god gifted power.
on the way to Bara,Nepal I met Ram Bahadur Bomjon’s Teacher, he was also local of that place where Bomjan borned,studied. He told me that he is not Buddha child , he just have some unusual disease from childhood. He used to sit alone and not so friendly with others. He told me that when Ram Bahadur Bomjon was in 8th Grade ( I dun remember the exact grade) two korean citizen and one Nepali people come to there school and they donate some money to school as well. At that moment they also made this big master  plan of making Ram Bahadur Bomjan as child Buddha. So, they use the unusual sickness of bomjan as a medium to earn money and of course they did grab huge money from it as well.

I also asked about how can he meditate without eating for days to him. He replied “That’s why they didn’t give permission to enter new people where Bomjan meditate.. Bomjan used to have food daily around nights”

In Gadhimai Mela Bomjan didn’t showed up with his special powers as people like me were waiting for him to be present there and stop this nonsense killing festival. But he didn’t showed up there.

So , from this teacher conversation and Bomjan absense in Gadhimai Mela 2009 .. I think this Buddha Child Was Fake.

स्थानीय सञ्चारकर्मीहरु बाराको चारकोशे जङ्गलस्थित हल्खोरियादहमा विगत लामो सयमदेखि निराहार तपस्या गर्दै आईरहेका कथित तपस्वी रामबहादुर बोम्जनको बारेमा बुझन जाने क्रममा कडा सुरक्षा घेराभित्र रहेको तपस्या स्थलमा चाउचाउ, फुटी, बिस्कुट र मलमुत्र राखेको प्लाष्टिकहरु भेटिएपछि उनको निराहार तपस्यामाथि नै नया आशंका उब्जाएको छ ।

गढीमाई मेलामा चढने वल्रि्रथा रोक्न भनेर आफनो हल्खोरियादहस्थित तपस्या स्थलबाट गत मंसिर ८ गते विहान २ बजे हिडेका बोम्जन आजसम्म पनि गढीमाई मन्दिरमा पुगेका छैनन् । यसरी बोम्जनको अवस्था अज्ञात भएपछि, यसै बिषयमा जानकारी लिन स्थानीय सञ्चारकर्मीहरुको टोली शुक्रबार समितिलाई जानकारी नै नगर्राई हल्खोरिया दहस्थित तपस्यास्थलमा पुग्ने क्रममा उनको पवित्र तपस्यास्थलमा विस्कुट, चाउचाउ र फुटी खाईसकेको खोल र मलमुत्र राखेको प्लाष्टिकको झोला भेटिएको थियो ।

घना जङ्गलमा रहेको बोम्जनको तपस्यास्थलको सुरक्षाको लागि तपस्यास्थलबाट डेढ किलोमिटर र आधा किलोमिटर गरी दुइवटा काडे तारबारले घेरिएको छ । त्यस कम्पाउण्डभित्र पस्नको लागि चौकिदारी गरी बसेका भिक्षुलाई भेटी समितिको अनुमति लिनुपर्ने हुन्छ । नेशनल टेलिभिजन सहित करिव एक दर्जनको संख्यामा गएका सञ्चारकर्मीहरु तपस्यास्थल जान पहिलो काडे तारको बारभित्र छिर्न खोज्दा तपस्यास्थलको चौकिदारी गरिरहेका भारतको बनारस निवासी मेकानिकल इन्जिनियर राकेश कुमार र भारत भोपाल निवासी विक्रमले समितिको अनुमति विना भित्र जान मिल्दैन भनेर रोकेका थिए । उनीहरुले भित्र जानलाई समितिको अनुमति लिनुपर्छ भनी बताए । दुबै भारतीय युवा भिक्षु विगत तीन बर्षदेखि चारकोशे घना जङ्गलको बीचमा सानो छाप्रो बनाएर तपस्यास्थलको चौकिदारी गर्दै आईरहेका छन् ।

तर बोम्जनको अवस्था बारेमा सत्यतथ्य जानकारी लिई छाडने अठोटका साथ पुगेका सञ्चारकर्मीहरु भने, हामी बाटोमै भेटौला भनेर काडे तार भित्र छिरेका थिए । हिडदै गर्दा करिव एक किलोमिटरपछि फेरी अन्य भिक्षुहरुले पनि रोक्न खोजेका थिए । तैपनि सञ्चारकर्मीहरु भित्र लागेका थिए । हिडीरहेकै बेला दुइजना भिक्षुहरु हस्याङ्पस्याङ्ग दुगुर्दै आई यो पवित्रस्थलमा भगवानको आदेश वाहेक कसैलाई पनि पस्न पाईदैन भन्दै बाटो छेकेका थिए । सञ्चारकर्मीहरुले भने हामीलाई तपस्वीलाई भेटनु छ भन्दा, भिक्षु जम्पल नुर्वुले उहा त अहिले अदृश्य हुनुहुन्छ भगवानको आदेश अनुसार आजै १२ गतेसम्ममा प्रकट हुने सम्भावना छ । त्यसैले तपाईहरु आज एक दिनलाई पर्खि दिनोस, उहा“ आउनु भयो भने हामी तपाईहरुलाई जानकारी गराउने छौ भने । सञ्चारकर्मीहरुले भने हामी तपस्यास्थल नहेरी र्फकदैनौ भनेर तपस्यास्थलतर्फलागेपछि दुबै भिक्षु पछि पछि लाग्नु वाहेक कुनै विकल्प रहेन ।

तपस्यास्थलमा पुग्दा चारैतिर झाडी नै झाडी उम्रिसेकेको छ भने, तपस्यास्थल अगाडी रहेको गुम्वा जहा तपस्वीले ६ महिनासम्म पाताल समाधी लिएका थिए रे । त्यो स्थान पनि सबै झाडीले छेकिसकेको छ । तपस्यास्थलको अवस्था हेर्दा त्यहा लामो समयदेखि कोही पनि नआएको जस्तो देखिन्छ । तर छायाङ्कन गर्दै जादा तपस्यास्थलको करिव २५ मिटर दक्षिणमा भर्खरै खाएको चाउचाउको खोल, फुटीको खोल, बिस्कुटको खोल र त्यसको छेउमा मान्छेको मलमुत्र सहितको प्लाष्टिकको झोला फ्याकिएको थियो । त्यो कुरा भिक्षुलाई बताउदा उनीहरुले यो अवश्य पनि कुनै पापीहरुको काम हो । जसले पनि यस्तो काम गरेको छ उनीहरु आफैलै भोग्ने छ भन्दै सबै फोहोरलाई तपस्थास्थलकै झाडीमा फ्याकिदिएका थिए । स्मरण रहोस, तपस्वी बसेको बेलामा पहिलो काडे तारबारबाटै दर्शनार्थीहरुलाई जुत्ता चप्पल खोल्न लगाएर मात्र भित्र प्रवेश गराउथे । तर अहिले त्यही ठाउमा खाएको खोलहरु र मलमुत्रको झोला भेटिएको छ ।

तर विचार गर्ने कुरा के हो भने, सुरक्षाकर्मी र सञ्चारकर्मीलाई समेत तपस्यास्थलभित्र पस्न लाखौ चोटी सोच्नुपर्ने अवस्था रहेको यत्रो कडा सुरक्षा घेराभित्र भएको तपस्यास्थलमा आखिर कसले भित्र पसेर फुटी, बिस्कुट र चाउचाउ खायो यही मलमुत्र त्याग गरेर फक्र्यो त ?

बाराको बरियारपुरमा हुने विश्वप्रसिद्ध पञ्चवर्षिय गढीमाईको मेलामा चढने वल्रि्रथाको विरोधमा बोम्जनले कार्तिक २५ गतेका दिन स्थानीय प्रहरी प्रशासनका प्रमुख, सञ्चारकर्मी, अहिंसाबादी संघ संस्थाका प्रतिनिधिलाई हल्खोरियादहस्थित तपस्यास्थलमै डाकेर, आस्थाको नाममा पशुपक्षिको वलि दिन नहुने तर्क अघि सार्दै, वलि प्रथालाई रोक्न निर्देशन समेत दिएका थिए । वलि नरोकिए आफु मंसिर ८ गते विहानै गढीमाई मन्दिरमै पुगेर वल्रि्रथा रोक्ने अभिब्यक्ति दिएका थिए । उनको यस अभिब्यक्तिले स्थानिय प्रहरी प्रशासनको होसहवास उडाएको थियो भने सञ्चारकर्मीहरुमा भने कौतुहलता जगाएको थियो ।

नमोबुद्ध तपोवन संरक्षण तथा संवर्द्धन समितिले तपस्वी बोम्जन मंसिर ८ गते गढीमाई मन्दिरमा पुगी वल्रि्रथा रोक्ने प्रचार प्रसार जोडतोडले गरेको थियो । जसले फेरी एकपटक बोम्जनले चर्चा पाएको थियो । यता ८ गते नजिकिदै जा“दा प्रहरी प्रशासनलाई भने निन्द्रा लाग्न छाडेको थियो । किनभने बोम्जन गढीमाई मन्दिरमा पुगी वलि रोक्ने प्रयास गर्ने क्रममा कुनै पनि दुर्घटना हुनसक्ने प्रवल सम्भावना रहेको थियो । यसै कुरालाई मध्यनजर गर्दै स्थानिय प्रशासले गढीमाई परिसरको सुरक्षा ब्यवस्थालाई निकै कडा पारेको थियो । बोम्जनको चमत्कारिक कार्य हर्ेन स्थानिय देखि राष्ट्रिय सञ्चारकर्मीहरु रातभरी गढीमाई मन्दिरमा जम्मा भएर बसेका थिए ।

समितिका पदाधिकारीहरुले रातभरी नै सञ्चारकर्मीहरुलाई उ“हा हिडिसक्नु भयो, गढीमाई मन्दिरको छेउछाउमै पुगिसक्नु भयो जस्ता सुचना दिदादिदै विहान भईसक्दा पनि बोम्जनको अत्तोपत्तो नभएपछि अन्तिममा समितिका केही पदाधिकारीहरुले उहा छेउछाउमै हुनुहुन्छ । तर अदृश्य हुनुहुन्छ भनेर बताएका थिए । आखिर ८ गते विहानदेखि बसेका सञ्चारकर्मीहरु दिउसोसम्म बोम्जनलाई पर्खेर बस्दा पनि नआएपछि निराश भएर फर्केका थिए । त्यतिञ्जेलसम्म समितिका मानिसहरु पनि फर्किसकेका थिए ।

हल्खोरियादहमा तपस्या गरी बसेका बोम्जन गढीमाई मेलाको लागि हिडेको आज ६ दिन पुगिसक्दा पनि उनको अवस्थाको बारेमा कुनै जानकारी छैन । यसबारेमा बाराका प्रजिअ तारानाथ गौतमसंग कुरा गर्दा उनले उहा“ तपस्वी मानिस फेरी जङ्गलमै बस्ने भएकोले अहिले हामीले खोजविन गरेर उहाको कार्यमा अवरोध पुर्याउनु नहुने बताउछन् । उहा हराउनु भएको भए अहिलेसम्म समितिले हामीलाई जानकारी गर्राई हाल्थिए प्रजिअ गौतम बताउछन् । तर बोम्जनको अवस्था भने अझै अज्ञात रहेको छ ।

तपस्वी भनेर चिनिने रामबहादुर बोम्जन को हुन ….. बारा जिल्ल्ााको रतनपुरी गाबिस बुङ्गजोर -५ बसोबास गर्ने बाबु विर बहादुर बोम्जन र आमा माया देबीको कोखबाट ०४६ साल चैत्र २७ गतेका दिन र्साईला छोराको रुपमा जन्मेको राम लामा बाल्यकालबाटै मारकाट र भिडभाड मन नपराउने स्वभावका थिए रे ।

बोम्जन प्रायः घरमा कसैलाई नभनि बाहिर हिडने र फेरी आफै घर फर्किने गर्थे । परिवारले उनलाई शिक्षा आर्जनको लागि स्कुलमा राखेपनि उनको मन पर्ढाई तिर नभई अन्यतिर भएको कारण उनले पर्ढाईलाई निरन्तरता दिन सकेको थिएन । पाच कक्षा पढदै गर्दा पर्ढाई छाडेर लामा ज्ञान र बुद्ध ज्ञानको लागि भौतारीदै उनी बिभिन्न ठा“उको गुम्वामा पुग्ने गर्थिए ।

सोही क्रममा मकवानपुरका एक लामागुरुले उनलाई पहिलो पटक लामा भाषा सिखाएका थिए । ज्ञान लिने क्रममा गुरुले उनको घरको नाम परिवर्तन गरी ” पाल्देन दोर्जे ” राखेका थिए । ज्ञानकै क्रममा भारतको देहरादुन शाक्यगुम्वामा पुग्दा, त्यहाका गुरुहरुले उनको नाम ” दोर्जे छिरिङ्ग ” राखिदिएका थिए । नेपाल र भारतमा रहेका थुप्रै गुम्वाको भ्रमण पश्चात उनी घर फर्केका थिए ।

तर बोम्जन २०६२ साल जेठ ३ गते राती १२ बजे कसैलाई केही नभनी चारकोशे घना जङ्गलको बिचमा रहेको एउटा पुरानो र ठुलो पिपलको बोटमुनी बसेर शान्ति र ज्ञान प्राप्तिको लागि निराहार तपस्या गर्न थालेका थिए ।

भगवान बुद्ध जस्तै आखा बन्द गरी पलेटी कसेर दुबै हात खुट्टामा राखी एकनासले बसिरहेका बोम्जनले तपस्यामा बसेको ७५ औं दिनमा आखा खोली आफ्ना दाजु गंगाजित लामालाई अब आफुलाई ” ऊ नमो गुरु बुद्ध ज्ञानी ” को नामले प्रचार गर्नु भनेर पुनः तपस्यामा बसेका थिए ।

बोम्जनसंग भएका घटनाहरु ……. तपस्याकै क्रममा उनलाई २०६२ साल कार्तिक १८ गतेका दिन दिउसो करिब १२ः४५ बजेतिर त्यही रुखबाट निस्केको र्सपले उनको दाहिने खुट्टामा टोकेको थियो । त्यसवेला करिव ६ दिनसम्म उनलाई उपचारको लागि भनेर छोपिएको थियो ।

उनको तपस्याको चर्चा सुनेर २०६२ साल मंसिर २२ गतेका दिन काठमाडौ फर्पिङ्ग गुम्वाका गुरु रिम्पोछे हला रिम्पोछे र संयुक्त राष्ट्र आदिबासी स्थायी मञ्चको सदस्य तथा नेपाल तामाङ्ग धृदुङ्ग संघका प्रमुख सल्लाहकार डा. परशुराम तामाङ्ग रतनपुरी जङ्गलमा पुगेर उनको दर्शन गरेपछि तपस्वी बोम्जन झन चर्चित भएका थिए । किनभने बौद्ध धर्ममा रिम्पोछे भनेको सोझै भगवानसंग सम्पर्क गर्न सक्ने अदभुत शक्ति प्राप्त ब्यक्ति हुन ।

यसरी छोटो समयमै विश्वमै चर्चित हुन पुगेका बोम्जनको बारेमा सत्यतथ्य पता लगाउनु पर्ने भन्दै केही दिनकोलागि तपस्वीलाई कपडाले छोपेर राखेको थियो । छानविन गर्न रतनपुरी पुगेका रोनाष्ट र डाक्टरलाई तपोबन संरक्षण समितिले बिरोध गरेपछि चेकजाच कार्य स्थगित हुन पुगेको थियो ।

यसरी पटक-पटक लापत्ता हुने र फेरी फरक स्थानमा प्रकट हुने आफुलाई तपस्वी र शान्तिका दुत भन्न रुचाउने बोम्जन, कहिले तरवार सहित प्रकट भए भने, कहिले अब पाताल समाधीमा बस्ने जस्ता नया“ कुराहरु लिएर प्रकट भईरहन्थे । तर अहिले आएर उनको चर्चा सेलाएर गएपछि फेरी गढीमाई मेलामा चढने वलिलाई रोकेर देखाउछु भनेर चर्चामा आएका हुन । उनले आफनो अदृश्य शक्तिलाई प्रयोग गरी कुनै पनि रुपमा गढीमाई मन्दिरमा प्रकट भएर वलिलाई रोकेरै देखाउछु भन्ने बोम्जन हल्खोरियादहबाट मंसिर ८ गते हिडेको बोम्जन आफै बेपत्ता भएका छन् । उनी कहा छन, न स्थानिय प्रशासनलाई थाहा छ न उनको समितिलाई नै थाहा छ । उनी अहिले लापत्ता छन् । यसैबारेमा बुझन हल्खोरिया दह पुग्ने क्रममा सो कुराहरु भेटिएको थियो । जसले फेरी उनको तपस्या र निराहार माथि नै प्रश्न चिन्ह खडा गरेको छ ।

At least four people were injured when a clash erupted between locals and devotees of Ram Bahadur Bamjan, known as Buddha boy, at Halkhoriya on Tuesday. The clash flared up when around 100 locals intervened to rescue two others who were held captive by Bamjan’s followers since Monday.

According to local resident Jagjiban Kumar, the two sides clashed after Bamjan hit the locals with a stick. He said that the two captives were, however, released later. Uttim Guro and Sonam Kumar, both of Nijgad Municipality-11, along with their friends were said to be on their way back from work in India when they were captured.

The incident came to light after the duo’s friends informed the locals about what happened, after fleeing the incident. The injured, Bamjan’s followers Rup Bahadur Thing, Samir Gurung, Nagraj, and Rakesh Guro,have sustained injuries to the heads and bodies.

According to Police, who reached the site after being informed, said that Bamjan told them that he directed his followers to take Uttim and Sonam under control after ‘they under the influence of alcohol shouted offensive slurs’. Inspector Kailash Rai said that they will start investigating the matter.

Bamjan has been living in the forest at Halakhoriya for the past two months.

Police quizzes Buddha Boy over thrashing locals

Tuesday, July 27, 2010/PATHALAIYA/ KATHMANDU: Police on Monday interrogated Ram Bahadur Bomjan, famously known as Buddha Boy, in connection with the thrashing of local villagers by him for trying to disrupt his penance on Thursday.


A squad of police, led by inspectors Rudrakanta Jha and Bhesh Raj Rijal from Bara District Police Office visited Bamjan in Halkhoriya forest, Bara, following complaints registered against him by a group of 17 vilagers.

Talking to the police, Bomjan admitted to having thrashed the villagers. “Yes, I took a minor action against them because they tried to disturb me while I was meditating,” he said.

Refuting the victims’ claimthat they mistakenly stepped into Bomjan’s meditating site while searching wild vegetables, Bomjan said, “They came to this area just to disrupt my meditation.”

Bomjan also admitted that he had taken the villagers into his control for 24 hours. “I had to do so personally because I did not have anyone around to punish them,” he said.

Though Bamjan claimed he only used hands while thrashing, the villagers have said he had thrashed them with a handle of an axe continuously for three hours.

Also Bomjan said he would not come to the court for trial. “Do you think a meditating sage will go to the court to hear a case?” he exclaimed.

“I took action against them as per the divine law,” he added.

Bamjan also refuted the allegation that he punished the locals for animal sacrifice, during Gadhimai festival. “The Gadhimai issue has nothing to do with this incident,” he said.

Bamjan, who is seen with reverence for his spiritual quest, has been lobbying against the mass animal sacrifice, touted as the world’s biggest.

He had given his word to stop the animal sacrifice ritual that last took place in November 2009, but finally did not show up.

Meanwhile, Bed Bahadur Thing, chairman of Tapoban Forest Conservation Committee, said that they beat up the locals for their attitude towards Bamjan.

Manoj Neupane, Deputy Superintendent of Police in the district, asserted no one is supposed to be above the law of the land.

The police would investigate the case and take action if required, Neupane added.

Bamjan, revered by many as a reincarnation of Lord Buddha, came to a wider public attention in 2005 when he was first spotted in jungle.

It is claimed he could meditate motionless for months without taking food and water.

He, aged 18, embarked on six years of penance in jungle on May the same year.

Followers of ‘Buddha boy’ Ram Bahadur Bomjan have been accused of holding two women, one a Slovak, captive.

It is learnt that members of the Bodhi Srawan Dharma Sangh, an association formed to oversee Bomjan’s security, have held the women for ‘practicing witchcraft’ and disturbing Bomjan’s meditation.

Bomjan has been meditating in the Halkhoriya forest of Ratanpuri VDC in Bara district for the past seven years. Though the identities of the women have not been established officially, people claiming to know them said the woman from Slovakia is named Marichi while the second woman is Mata Aani, said to be from Sindhupalchowk.

A person involved with the Sangh said the two women have been “detained” for practicing witchcraft and trying to disrupt the meditation. Marichi had arrived in Nepal 11 months ago, seeking audience with Bomjan. She stayed in a local hotel for some time before moving to a monastery in Simara. The other woman, meanwhile, had been living in the Halkhoriya region for a while. Police said they received a report about the missing women a couple of days ago and that investigations are underway.

“We interrogated one Jash Bahadur Waiba of the Sangh. He told us that the two women would be made public on Wednesday,” said police inspector Krishna Prasad Sharma. Two days after the Slovak woman went missing, two Sangh members had arrived at the monastery and taken away her laptop and clothes, said a person involved in the conservation of the monastery. Some locals claimed having seen Marichi riding pillion on a motorcycle with two Sangh members to the direction of Bomjan’s meditation spot.
